Cher is known for dating men who are much younger than herself. The 77-year-old singer has an explanation for this. She says that her peers never dared to approach her.
“I’m very shy when I’m not at work, and especially when in contact with men,” Cher explains in The Jennifer Hudson Show. “I date younger men because men my age or older are dead now, but before they were always too scared to approach me.”
The American has come to the conclusion that younger men are more daring in that respect. “They were raised by women like me.”
Cher says in the same interview that she once turned down a date with Elvis Presley. “I was too nervous and I knew the people around him. They weren’t necessarily bad people, but I was nervous because of his reputation,” she says about the singer, who died in 1977.
Cher is currently in a relationship with music producer Alexander Edwards, who is forty years her junior. The couple was photographed holding hands for the first time in November 2022. A few months later, the two were rumored to have broken up, but that was debunked when the two were seen being intimate again.
