Ilse DeLange is disappointed that it was leaked that she performed a song in front of the selection committee of broadcaster AVROTROS, in the hope of participating in the Eurovision Song Contest again. The 46-year-old singer said this on Friday in the talk show BEAU, after Het Parool delivered this news earlier today.
“Of course it was not the intention for that to come out. I’m disappointed about that,” says DeLange, who has already participated in the music competition on behalf of the Netherlands. “So it’s no secret that I would really like to be on that podium again, otherwise I wouldn’t go through all those phases. So that is of course quite a vulnerable thing for me.”
The singer ‘just had to audition in that room, exactly as described and everything’. “If I had known in advance that it would become public, I am not sure whether I would have done that,” says the singer, who says she is particularly disappointed that someone leaked her audition and the comments on it.
Het Parool wrote on Friday that not Joost Klein, but Numidia was the selection committee’s favorite for a long time. DeLange was also in the race, but according to the newspaper, some members of the selection committee found her entry “too inaccessible” and “too complicated for the festival”.
