Preparations for the National Commemoration on Dam Square are in full swing this morning. Fences will be placed on and around the square. Anyone who has registered to come to the commemoration would do well to bring a raincoat tonight. There is a good chance of showers around 8 p.m. Umbrellas are not allowed.

The roadblocks, through which the 10,000 people who previously registered must pass, were already set up yesterday afternoon. The entrances are on Damrak, Rokin and Paleisstraat. The entrance you need as a visitor depends on the location you selected when making your reservation.

There is little chance that it will remain dry tonight during the commemoration. During the afternoon, a zone with some showers will move north over the country, Weeronline reports. The heaviest showers occur mid-afternoon. The heaviest and heaviest rain is expected in North Holland around 8 p.m. Umbrellas, as well as signs and flags, are not allowed to be taken to Dam Square.

Additional measures

Due to ‘increased tensions in society’, particularly as a result of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the municipality has decided to introduce an extensive emergency ordinance. It contains additional rules that people who come to Dam Square must adhere to. The emergency ordinance applies between 3:00 PM and 9:30 PM.

The most important rule is that only people who have registered can attend the commemoration. This was possible until Tuesday, when it became clear that all available places had been taken. A maximum of 10,000 people will be admitted to the National Commemoration, half as many as in previous years.
