Singer 4batz saw his early career shoot through the roof in 2024. He started the year relatively unknown, but his fame soon started to grow exceptionally. That was because his second single “date @ 8” blew up on TikTok, even earning the talent a debut on the ‘Hot 100’ chart. When Drake appeared on the remix of the track, the numbers really shot through the roof and the song peaked at number 7 on the charts.
But this spontaneous growth in fame, looking at the past, is almost always accompanied by ‘Industry Plant’ accusations. An industry plant is an artist who becomes bizarrely popular out of nowhere thanks to their legacy, wealth, or in this case their connections in the music industry, rather than their own merit. In an interview with GQ, 4Batz was asked what he thought of these accusations and he had a surprising answer: “I think it’s kind of cool, It’s like I’m the boogeyman. People are going to meet me and be like, Oh, this is a regular hood n*gga,” says the singer.
The Industry Plant framing doesn’t just come from his collaboration with Drake, or the fact that he signed a deal with OVO, Drake’s label. 4Batz also recently collaborated with Kanye West. Earlier this month, videos circulated showing the new sensation in the studio with West. This has even led to speculation of a feature on VULTURES 2, which according to Ye should be released on May 3.
But fans don’t have to wait much longer for new music from 4Batz. The singer has shared the tracklist of his debut EP ‘U made me St4r*’ on his Instagram. The EP will be released under OVO and will be available this Friday.
