The promotion battle in the Kitchen Champion Division remains exciting until the very last second. Not anymore for Willem II. They have been promoted to the Eredivisie, but had to go very deep for this at FC Dordrecht. Michael de Leeuw scored the promotion goal in the 93rd minute. Despite a 2-0 victory, it was a sour evening for Roda JC. Due to a goal in minute 95 by FC Groningen, the winning Roda JC is not yet certain of promotion.
FC Dordrecht – Willem II (1-1)
Leader Willem II is suffering from promotional stress in the M-Scores Stadium. Number four FC Dordrecht takes full advantage of this. In the 28th minute, Shiloh ‘t Zand gave the home team the lead with a controlled long-range shot. The Dordrecht team pushed hard and had a few good chances. The Tricolores could not complain with the 1-0 halftime score.
After the break, Jeredy Hilterman was very close to the equalizer twice. A minute later it was ‘t Zand who almost scored his twelfth of the season, but found the post in his way. The visitors scored the promotion goal in the 73rd minute. Rob Nizet was put down in the penalty area, only Hilterman failed from eleven meters. Raffael Behounek also failed to put the ball behind goalkeeper Luca Plogmann in front of a half-empty goal.
In the 93rd minute, Willem II crawled through the eye of the needle, not for the first time in this competition. Michael de Leeuw arrived in line a few minutes before the end and scored the oh-so liberating goal. Regardless of the results on the other fields, it is certain that there will be Eredivisie football next year.

To keep direct promotion in sight, FC Groningen had to play at least a draw. The Groningers did themselves a great disservice by falling behind after just forty seconds. Club top scorer of Telstar, Zakaria Eddahchouri, was allowed to tap in just before the line.
Telstar also had the greatest opportunities after tea, but they did not reward themselves. In the final phase, the Groningen team pushed hard to keep their immediate promotion dream alive and they succeeded in the 95th minute. Thom van Bergen tapped in and ensured that next week’s match against Roda JC is a direct duel for promotion.

While all competitors fell behind, it remained 0-0 in the Parkstad Limburg Stadium until half time. Roda JC was the better team, but did not create any major opportunities. It took until the 65th minute before the most passed defense of the Kitchen Champion Division had to concede another goal.
Sami Ouaissa came in from the right and shot in with his left leg. Mathisse Didden’s short circuit was not punished, despite the fact that he swept the ball away in his own box while lying down. Moments later, Vaclav Sejk punished a mistake in Marco Tol’s build-up and decided the match.
Despite the victory, the minor mood will prevail. Bas Sibum’s team was two minutes away from Eredivisie football and will therefore have to work hard in the Euroborg next week.
