Marianne Vos has booked her second stage victory in the Vuelta. Little changed in the rankings, Demi Vollering, who finished fourth, retains the red jersey. Riejanne Markus finished seventh and Pauliena Rooijakkers finished ninth.

Earlier this Vuelta, 36-year-old Vos won the third stage. The Visma – Lease a Bike rider wears the green jersey for the best sprinter.

The Tour of Spain will be decided tomorrow. Then the 89 kilometer queen stage awaits with two first category cols.

Fans

A somewhat boring stage was expected today, because the 139 kilometer ride from San Esteban to Sigüenza was a flat one. But the wind breathed life into the course.

About 25 kilometers before the finish, fans formed and the peloton was split into two parts. Yara Kastelijn was the most famous rider who could not join the front group.

The wind seemed like a golden opportunity for attackers, but all escape attempts were neutralized. A group of about thirty riders battled for victory on the short but steep final climb. Vos started early and was by far the fastest.
