Verstappen leads from start to finish and wins exciting sprint race in Miami | formula 1

--

Max Verstappen also won the second sprint race of this Formula 1 season in Miami on Saturday. The Red Bull driver was the boss of Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc and his teammate Sergio Pérez from start to finish on the hot American street circuit.

Verstappen repelled an attack from Leclerc at the start and did not encounter any problems afterwards, although the Dutchman complained, just like on Friday, about a lack of grip in Miami.

The battle at the front was over quickly, but behind it there was a lot of fighting. For example, Pérez initially lost third place to the strong Daniel Ricciardo. The Australian Racing Bulls driver soon had to let the Mexican pass, but then held off Carlos Sainz for a long time. It earned him fourth place. Oscar Piastri finished sixth in his McLaren.

Things went wrong for several big names right from the start. After a good start, Lewis Hamilton made a late move on the inside of Fernando Alonso, who was pinched at the same time by teammate Lance Stroll. Lando Norris was on the outside of this group and was knocked off the track due to the skirmish.

Hamilton is being seriously bothered by Magnussen

Only Hamilton was able to continue without major problems. The Mercedes driver then became involved in a fierce battle with Haas driver Kevin Magnussen. The Dane went over the line defensively and incurred a time penalty of 35 seconds in total.

Hamilton initially finished eighth thanks to Magnussen’s courage. The Dane did lend a helping hand to teammate Nico Hülkenberg by thwarting Hamilton’s Mercedes. He rode to a good seventh place with the other Haas. Hamilton himself received a time penalty for speeding in the pit lane and had to give up his eighth place, good for one World Championship point, to Yuki Tsunoda.

Verstappen was again two points ahead of Pérez, his closest opponent in the World Cup standings. The Dutchman now has 118 points and Pérez is second with 91 points. Leclerc is third with 83 points.
