Tuxedo Computers has announced the Pulse 14 Gen 4. This Linux-based laptop uses the same design of its predecessor but has a new processor on board with the AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS.

The Pulse 14 Gen 4 has a 14-inch screen with a resolution of 2880×1800 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate and 100% coverage of the SRGB color range. The panel offers an average brightness of 400cd/m², while its predecessor has to make do with 300cd/m².

The Ryzen 7 7840HS of the Gen 3 is being replaced by the Ryzen 7 8845HS. Both processors have 8 Zen 4 cores, 16 threads and a 5.1GHz turbo. The 8845HS should mainly distinguish itself by its better NPU for AI workloads. The CPU is paired with 32GB of Lpddr5x-6400 memory. Since Tuxedo does not provide a separate GPU, the system uses the integrated Radeon 780M. The standard edition comes with 500GB of storage on an NVMe PCI-e 3.0 SSD.

The physical specifications are also identical to those of the earlier model. The new Pulse 14 measures 31.3×1.8×22.2cm and weighs 1.4kg. That includes the 60Wh battery. In terms of connections, the laptop has two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 connectors, two USB 32 Gen 2 type-A connections and an HDMI 2.0 port. There is also a microSD card reader and a headphone jack. The wireless connectivity consists of WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.

The Pulse 14 Gen 4 comes standard with Tuxedo OS, which is based on Ubuntu with the KDE Plasma desktop environment. Users can also opt for Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Ubuntu Budgie. The laptop will be available from May 30 and is now available for pre-order. The standard version costs 1249 euros.
