Video – The Veldhoven Commemorations working group for May 4 and September 17 organizes Remembrance Day every year on May 4. This evening we commemorate all civilians and soldiers who have died as a result of acts of war and terror since the outbreak of the Second World War. The broadcaster broadcasts it live.
Commemoration program
At 7.35 pm a tour departs from De Ruimtee to the Clock Monument. The official program starts there at 7.50 pm with a word of welcome. Then the ‘Taptoe Signal’ is played and the bell is rung. Then it is 8 p.m. and we observe two minutes of silence. After this, the Veldhoven Music Corps plays the Wilhelmus and Mayor Marcel Delhez gives a speech. Then Umijt Hallijijev, a Dutchman with a refugee background, speaks about the theme of safety. A poem written by a Sondervick College student is then recited and the World Peace Flame is delivered for the lighting of the torch. The guild lowers the guild flag to the sound of drums. Finally, various organizations lay a wreath or flower arrangement. They are helped by members of scouting St. Stanislaus Kostka.
Livestream Commemoration
Omroep Veldhoven will provide a livestream of the commemoration via their channel. If this is not possible due to weather or technology, you can view a summary at a later time.
