From pole position, Max Verstappen will try to win the Miami Grand Prix for the third time in a row. The reigning Formula 1 world champion took pole for the sixth time in a row this season and for the first time for the main race in Miami.

Verstappen had already set the fastest time in qualifying for the sprint race on Friday. He won that on Saturday by riding at the front from start to finish. And although the Red Bull driver grumbles that he has little grip at the Miami International Autodrome, he is still the fastest.

Last year the Limburger won the race by starting from ninth position. In 2022 he started from third place and took victory. Verstappen hopes to start better than in the sprint race on Saturday. “We know what we and I did wrong. If I perform my duties correctly, everything should turn out fine,” he looked ahead after qualifying.

In addition to Verstappen on the starting grid, Charles Leclerc will be in the Ferrari on Sunday. The second row of the grid is also occupied by a Ferrari and a Red Bull, Carlos Sainz is third and Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Pérez is fourth. The race in Miami starts on Sunday at 10 p.m. Dutch time.
