HARAREZimbabwe demands a place on the list of participating countries in the Eurovision Song Contest. According to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe has “every right” to participate in the song festival.

Zimbabwe wants to be the first African country to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest, but has not yet been given permission to do so. Mnangagwa does not accept the argument that it is a European festival and therefore only intended for European countries. “If Azerbaijan and even Australia can join in, then so can we,” the Zimbabwean president said.

Australia used to be a British colony and is therefore allowed to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest, but according to Zimbabwe that is not a valid reason. “Zimbabwe is now a decent dictatorship, but we too were a British colony. By the way, since Brexit itself, Britain is no longer even part of Europe,” Mnangagwa fulminated.

“The Eurovision cartel is afraid of the Zimbabwean competition. And rightly so.”

The real reason why Zimbabwe is not allowed to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest is, according to President Mnangagwa, based on pure fear: “The Eurovision cartel is afraid of the Zimbabwean competition. Rightly so. Other countries also know that they no longer have a chance if we have Thomas Mapfumo at the Eurovision Song Contest Mhondoro Dzinonwa let them sing.”
