A 61-year-old woman from the Netherlands suffered a fatal fall while walking on the Bisse du Ro hiking trail in Switzerland. When the emergency services arrived on the scene, they could no longer do anything for her.
The woman took a walk with another person near Crans-Montana on Thursday afternoon around 2:20 p.m. Due to an as yet unexplained cause, she fell several meters, the Valais police said.
Emergency services had to travel overland to the accident site as poor weather conditions made it impossible to use a helicopter. They could only determine on the spot that the woman had died. She has been identified as a 61-year-old Dutch woman. The Public Prosecution Service has launched an investigation in collaboration with the police.
The Bisse du Ro is a tourist attraction: the hiking trail leads over dizzying cliffs and is therefore not recommended for people who suffer from dizziness.
