Exciting book for the children of Hasselt

Johan Buter (l) and Bertus Seinen (r)

At the end of July, Lien Vande Kerkhof, journalist for the Belgian newspaper “het Belang van Limburg” was on a two-day visit to the Hanseatic city of Hasselt to write a tourist article about our beautiful Hasselt.

During this visit she was enthusiastically shown around by Johan Buter of the TIP and board member/tour guide at the Lime Kilns Foundation. At the Lime Kilns it turned out that, in addition to her journalistic work for the newspaper, Lien Vande Kerkhof is also a popular writer of children’s books.

At the end of her visit she presented Bertus Seinen, chairman of the Lime Kilns Foundation, with a copy of ‘De Zoo van Zwartelgoud’ written and signed by her especially for the children of Hasselt. A second edition of this book has now been published in Belgium. In his acceptance speech, Bertus Seinen promised that the beautifully illustrated book would actually be made available to Hasselter youth through the library.

Friday morning, September 23, Johan and Bertus visited the library, where the beautiful and exciting book was officially presented to Henny Bosman, coordinator of the Hasselt library. The book is now included in the lending collection.
