Have you played Tinder all the way through, but are you the one not yet encountered? You may have more success at IKEA Utrecht. Yes, you read that right. The Swedish company is holding a speed dating evening for singles aged 18 and over on Saturday evening, February 4. And you can participate!

On the evening of February 4, the IKEA store in Utrecht will be transformed into the ultimate speed dating location. Various parts of the IKEA Utrecht showroom and restaurant are being converted into date spots. From a romantic date by LED candlelight in the restaurant to a pleasant conversation on a showroom bed: it’s all possible that evening after closing time.
The concept
The doors open from 19:00. Everyone gets one goodie bag filled with, among other things, ‘conversation starters’, useful for a date that is a bit more difficult. The speed dating starts at 8 pm and until 9:30 pm the ‘buzzer’ goes off every five minutes – with breaks in between – to herald the next date. After the date rounds, the restaurant will remain open for a while, so that there can be a chat.
Date for the planet
IKEA is organizing the speed dating event to – with a wink – draw attention to energy saving at home. Because being together saves energy: only one thermostat needs to be switched on and that also applies to the TV, oven and hob.

Are you 18 years or older and does this sound like the perfect date to you? Register before 5 February via the IKEA website. When registering, you indicate whether you identify as female, male or non-binary, in which age group you want to date, where you live, whether you are a morning or evening person, and whether you prefer Swedish meatballs or a veggie hot dog. This way you end up in the right speed dating group and you might meet the love of your life!
