Pilots’ union VNV had gone to court because they wanted to know from the judge whether KLM is breaking the rules now that it only hires vaccinated flight personnel. The vaccination obligation against corona would also go against previous agreements with society.

Vaccination requirement

KLM, in turn, believed that it did not violate any rules with the vaccination requirement for new personnel. There would also be no discrimination.

The pilots’ union was largely right. According to the Amsterdam subdistrict court, KLM is making an ‘unjustified infringement of the rights of the candidate pilots’, and the company must immediately stop asking about their vaccination status.

The airline is also not allowed to reject candidates who say they have not been vaccinated and do not want a vaccination. KLM says in a response it is studying the ruling.
