Like 2009’s Avatar, the sequel Avatar: The Way of the Water is rated PG-13 in the States. This probably translates to 12 years and older in the Netherlands. It is striking that there is a warning about nude scenes in the film.

The North American Motion Picture Association reviewed the film and came to the following conclusion to give the film a PG-13 rating:

“Scenes with heavy violence and intense action, partial nudity and foul language.”

The first film received the following description in the age rating: “Intense epic battle scenes and warfare, sensuality, language and some smoke.” So smoking seems to be a thing of the past in the franchise.
