Thirty celebrities of Jewish descent have expressed concern about rising anti-Semitism on Tiktok. Sacha Baron Cohen and Amy Schumer, among others, are sounding the alarm, reports The New York Times.

On Wednesday night, the stars held a virtual meeting with Adam Presser, head of operations from Tiktok, and his colleague Seth Melnick. They had taken the initiative themselves, after an open letter from numerous celebrities of Jewish descent had woken them up.

Actors Sacha Baron Cohen, Debra Messing and Amy Schumer, among others, made it clear that they are very concerned. “Tiktok is creating the largest anti-Semitic movement since the Nazis,” Baron Cohen said in the meeting. “Shame on you.” The Boratactor was referring, among other things, to the misinformation spread in the video app, and demanded that Tiktok take more initiative to tackle this.

Presser, who like Melnick is also Jewish, said in the meeting that there was truth in what the actor said. “But there is no magic button to solve everything.” Still, he said some work is already being done within the company to address the problems, and more will come.
