The book The Secret World of Johnny Depp: The Intimate Biography of Hollywood’s Best-Loved Rebel written by Nigel Goodall provides more insight into the experience of one of the most popular – and most controversial – stars in the world.
This is how the actor explained Pirates of the Caribbean and Fantastic Beasts: “I had completed three years of high school and I was bored out of my mind. I hated it and didn’t want to be there.”
No teacher helped
Johnny Depp said that one of those teachers copied him Edward Scissorhands asked for an autograph. Johnny then became furious, because the teacher at the time did not bother to ask why Johnny was exhibiting problem behavior.
The star said in the book: “I didn’t know what to say. This teacher disappointed me. He yelled at me in a crowded classroom. He didn’t make time for me. He failed me. They all thought I would end up in jail as a drug addict.”
On the bad path
He also said: “I was in bad company at the time. We broke into and broke things. I stole things. I smoked at 12, had sex at 13 and had done all kinds of drugs at 14. I was just curious about everything.”
Fortunately, he saw that it all led to nothing and stopped doing it himself. Then he accidentally entered the film world and turned out to be a great actor. In the YouTube video above from Motivation Mentors, Johnny talks more about his growth.
