Tony Danza is best known for the series ‘Taxi’ and ‘Who’s the Boss’, but is he still acting today?
Although most people in the Netherlands will know Danza from Who’s the Boss, that’s not where his acting career started. His first role was that of Tony Banta in the sitcom Cabfrom 1978 to 1983.
Tony Micelli
Danza played in 1984 Who’s the Bossbroadcast in the Netherlands under the title The boss in the house. He played the role of Tony Micelli, a former baseball player who turns to work as a live-in housekeeper to raise his daughter outside New York.
For this role, Danza was nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award. Who’s the Boss ended in 1992, but that definitely didn’t mean the end of Danza’s acting career. In the 90s he starred in several films, including Angels in the Outfield.
Own sitcom
From 1997 to 1998, Danza had his own sitcom called The Tony Danza Show. He continued to act at the beginning of this century. He was featured in the movie Crash and had several guest roles as himself, including in Family Guy.
But what is Danza doing today? Around 2012 it seemed as if Danza had put acting on the back burner, but nowadays he is fully engaged in it again. In 2021, he provided the voice of Siggy in the animated film Rumble.
Never stopped
And in 2022 he was seen in the supernatural teen film Darby and the Dead. He also appears a lot in series again. In recent years he has played roles in Outmatched, Blue Bloods, Raising Kanan and Tacoma F.D.
Moreover, he appeared as himself last year And Just Like That…the spin-off of Sex and the City. So Danza never gave up acting.
