From 1977 to now: Ron Brandsteder through the years

From radio to your own quiz

In 1973, Ron finally started as a DJ at TROS at Hilversum 3. Before that, he already worked in the industry as a plugger. Ron could be heard on the radio during the night hours. Then he could be heard in the morning. But due to an argument he left Hilversum 3. It was in 1978 when Brandsteder was discovered by Ivo Niehe when he performed a show at Sony with his father. The fame came when Ron started his TROS Showbiz quiz, which was on the air for no less than eight years. Then followed TROS Murder Game and of course Ron’s Honeymoon Quiz.

In 1990, Ron switched to RTL 4. There he added several more successes to his CV, such as: Who am I?, Joke crackers, Let them laugh and Dancing with the Stars. Ron could also be heard on the radio again for a short time with Radio North Sea and Ron on Sunday.

Reporter of André van Duin

In 2004, Brandsteder entered the theater with André van Duin. Here he fulfilled the role of declarant. Together the gentlemen achieved great success with their shows the André van Duin Anniversary Show (2004–2005), The New André van Duin Show (2006), André’s New Revue (2007–2008), Yep… there it is again! (2011–2012).

Stopped on TV

In 2011 he returned to radio for Omroep Max. And in 2013 he again presented the Showbiz quiz, this time with son Rick Brandsteder at his side. In 2015 it was enough for Brandsteder. He quit his TV work and focused on his radio programs and possible jobs as a host. Yet Ron still popped up here and there. As in 2018 Old Boys Smørrebrød and in 2021 The Masked Singer. Unfortunately, he also had to stop his current radio program on Radio 5 at the end of 2023.
