DHL has reached an agreement with the bankruptcy trustee of Instabox Nederland and Red Je Pakketje to take over the assets of the companies. Among other things, the company is taking over the parcel lockers, bringing DHL’s total to more than 5,000.

DHL Parcel is taking over the parcel lockers, roll containers, computers and sorting machines from the bankrupt companies for an amount of more than 5.5 million euros. In addition, DHL will make every effort to help as many employees as possible – who suddenly found themselves without a job after the bankruptcy – find a new, suitable job.

The parcel delivery company already has a network of parcel lockers in the Netherlands, but is expanding this considerably by taking over the assets. Instabox already has almost a thousand packages in the Netherlands or was working on this. DHL will take care of the part of the parcel lockers that has not yet been installed. The total network of manned and unmanned parcel vaults will therefore increase to more than 5,000.

Wouter van Benten, Benelux CEO of DHL Parcel: ‘Thanks to the acquisition of the parcel lockers and other equipment from the estate of Instabox and Red Je Pakketje, DHL can accelerate the national roll-out of parcel lockers. That’s good news for senders and recipients of packages. In addition, we are happy to talk to the former employees of the bankrupt companies to see if they can continue their career at DHL. As an employer with 18,000 employees in the Netherlands, that must have a good chance of success.’

A mobility center is being set up for former employees of recently bankrupted companies. In addition, information days will be organized in several places.
