Jysk also had a record year in the Netherlands. The Danish furniture store chain grew less rapidly here than worldwide.

Turnover in the Netherlands amounted to 167.3 million euros, an increase of 2.4 percent. Worldwide turnover, which was already reported in September, rose by 11 percent to almost 4.9 billion euros. The operating result (EBIT) in the Netherlands amounted to 21 million.

In the financial year that ran up to and including August, the shops were only open for more than a month for the collection of orders due to corona measures. “It was a challenging year, but we can be proud of our results,” said country manager Frank Christant.

Jysk sees that growth has slowed down since the summer. Christant: “We notice that purchasing power is under pressure. I expect that we will see this reflected in our results in the current financial year.” Jysk currently has 101 stores in the Netherlands. Two more will be added next month, in Beuningen and Harderwijk.

Construction of its own DC in Lelystad will start next year. The home furnishing chain has recently started using a temporary DC on the site next door, which should be fully operational early next year.
