DRAGON – King’s Day did not end on a festive note everywhere this year. Things went wrong at the end of the evening on the Kaden in Drachten. A major brawl broke out at the intersection with Nachtegaalstraat. Some bystanders even spoke of a stabbing. That was around 1:20 am.

Lots of police

To prevent things from getting out of hand even further, police officers came to Drachten from far and wide. Ultimately, there were about 12 vehicles with more than 20 officers on the quays.

“On site it turned out that there was no stabbing incident. However, there was unrest. To restore calm, colleagues decided to send the people away.” the police told WâldNet.

Docks swept clean

After the fight it was decided to clear De Kaden. With the help of a long baton and a police dog, the officers cleared the street. A large part of De Kaden was then cordoned off.

Pull back

After the street had been largely closed for about half an hour, the officers retreated to the intersection with Nachtegaalstraat. The details of a number of people involved were subsequently recorded and they were asked to leave the quays.

One minor boy from Beetsterzwaag has been arrested for disrupting public order and details of several possible people involved have been recorded.

Descend to the center

Not much later it was quiet again on the Kaden. The police present had descended on the carillon in the center. They waited here for a while to resolve the situation.

A fight before

It was not the first time that evening that it was restless. During a previous fight, one of the people involved received a report. In addition, a window was broken at a building. This happened by an 18-year-old suspect from Drachten. He was arrested and transferred to the cell complex in Leeuwarden.
