The search is still on for Yoran Krol from Sleeuwijk, who has been missing since December. After a party he disappeared on December 23, but his body was never found. One of the volunteers who does not give up the search for sixteen-year-old Yoran is Pave Verbeek. With drones and many other volunteers, he can be found on the Merwede all weekend, looking for leads.

The search for Yoran has been going on for months. In December, his bicycle was found on the Merwede Bridge the day after he went missing. His coat was later found in the water near Papendrecht, but the boy himself has still not been found. “I urge everyone to keep their eyes open,” says Pave. “If you live by the water, or go for a walk or cycle there, keep looking to see if you see anything. Someone is still missing.”

Pave and his colleague Luc Sleecx search the water in the Merwede with drones. “We search at high resolution. This means that we take high-quality photos and video, so that we can search better. At the peak on Saturday we had fifteen drones in the air. If we see something, we will send a team to that location. to see on site if there is anything there.”

It’s a good time to do some digging, according to Pave. “The water level is now low and new places are being exposed. We covered a large part of the Merwede on Saturday, but we still want to look at a few more places today. I have the resources, the time and the courage to I just have to do this.”

Filming is his job. “I have a video editing company, filming is part of it. Flying came later. I work as a volunteer in missing persons assistance.” As a result, he can regularly be found on the water and he is happy to contribute. “It gives me positive energy.”

The police are no longer actively looking for sixteen-year-old Yoran. She assumes that the boy ended up in the river and drowned. He has often been searched for, including the largest citizen search ever in the Netherlands. In January, 2,500 people searched for Yoran.

Yoran’s aunt also thanked everyone who helped during Saturday’s search:
