Reward for whoever brings it back: Burglars steal police officer at May Fair

Groningen – Burglars normally want to stay out of the hands of the police. But rowdy night owls at the May Fair actually targeted a police officer on Sunday night. The owners of the Rescue, the maze at the May Fair, are not happy with the theft and are now even offering a reward to whoever brings the agent back.

“The officer’s decorative doll is normally outside our attraction,” says Etienne Van Hezik, manager of the Rescue. “At night we always put the doll inside behind a fence. That gate was broken open on Sunday night. The thieves took the officer’s doll.”

Van Hezik says that a reward is now being offered to the person who returns the doll to the attraction: “It could of course be that intoxicated students took the doll with them. Maybe they woke up this morning and they’re thinking, ‘oh no, what have I done now?’. We therefore give the thieves the opportunity to return the doll. If that does not happen, we will report it.”

The doll is actually of no value to thieves, says Van Hezik: “There is only one such doll, so it is not actually possible to sell it. If it is offered somewhere, we immediately recognize it. It is handmade and hand-painted and therefore truly unique.”
