Demonstranten richting Oosterpark
De organisatie van het protest heeft de aanwezigen gevraagd om naar het nabijgelegen Oosterpark te gaan. Daar wordt opnieuw een teach-in gehouden. Demonstranten worden gevraagd niet met de pers te praten. Ze worden door de politie naar het park begeleid.

The demonstrators caused damage in various parts of the UvA building. The university medium reports that computer screens on the sixth floor have been destroyed and rooms have been trashed. Slogans have also been sprayed on windows, tables and floors.

Atmosphere at the demonstration in Nijmegen was pleasant
The pro-Palestinian protest on the campus of Radboud University in Nijmegen is proceeding smoothly. Music is playing and groups of people are sitting around the tent camp. Many people wear keffiyehs, scarves that are often worn at pro-Palestinian demonstrations. A number of security guards are watching at the camp, but there are no police on the scene yet.

Protesters pressure media to leave
The media present in the UvA building are being pressured by the demonstrators to leave. The demonstrators shout slogans at journalists and try to cover cameras with Palestinian flags, scarves and hands.

“The press is now actively being opposed by what appears to be demonstrators. Flags and hands in front of my phone when I want to film or take photos,” reports reporter Afran Groenewoud. He emphasizes that the atmosphere is not grim.

Atmosphere outside the building is quiet
The atmosphere outside the UvA building is still quiet, reports reporter Afran Groenewoud. The police are present, but do not have to intervene outside. People are not stopped if they want to enter the building, although the UvA does ask people to leave the building.

Protesters in Groningen are allowed to stay for the time being
The people demonstrating on a square at the University of Groningen may remain there for the time being. The so-called triangle (mayor, police and Public Prosecution Service) has “assessed that the protest can be permitted at this time, as long as accessibility is not at risk”, a spokesperson for the municipality said.

The municipality is talking to the demonstrators “to hear what their plan is”. Several tents were erected during the protest. The university does not want the demonstrators to spend the night there. If the demonstrators want this, “the triangle must make a new assessment”, according to the municipality.

The Amsterdam triangle (mayor, police and Public Prosecution Service) is currently discussing the situation on the Roeterseiland campus. The riot police are on standby near the university building, but have not yet intervened.

UvA reports demonstration in building
The University of Amsterdam is reporting the demonstrators who entered the building on the Roeterseiland campus. This means that the police can now also take action in the building.

The UvA also announced that the Maagdenhuis, another university building a few kilometers away, will be closed as a precaution. Roeterseiland may be evacuated quickly and the UvA wants to prevent the demonstrators from moving to another university location. The Maagdenhuis is the head office of the UvA management.

ME on the way to UvA building
The police mobile unit (ME) is on its way to Roeterseiland, where the UvA building is located. Reporters from Het Parool and AT5 report seeing several vans driving towards the campus in Amsterdam.

The university board has called on people to leave the building if they have nothing to do with the pro-Palestinian protest. Many students and employees who were busy with lectures have now done so.

Demonstrations in several places in the Netherlands
Several actions are underway throughout the country. Dozens to hundreds of demonstrators have also gathered at the universities in Maastricht, Nijmegen, Groningen, Eindhoven and Utrecht.
