The province of Utrecht offers free travel on all U-OV trams for two weeks, from September 19 to October 2. The action has to do with the nuisance experienced by travelers due to the work, as a result of which the tram was not running.

There is no need to check in and out during the promotional period. Travelers can get on and off free of charge on all tram lines. Tram 20, 21 and 22 are all completely free between September 19 and October 2.

During the promotional period, one free Province Dal Day ticket (worth EUR 10.30) is available to season ticket holders. For yourself or to give as a gift. With this card you can travel for a whole day in 2022 through the province with the buses and trams of Syntus Utrecht and U-OV. Request the card from U-OV.

At the two P+R locations, Westraven and Utrecht Science Park, a discount applies during the two weeks for everyone who parks there. This discount normally only applies to travelers who buy a tram ticket, but now that this is not necessary, the discount applies to everyone who parks there.

No switch

The result of the work is that from this summer travelers will be able to travel by tram from Nieuwegein to IJsselstein to Utrecht Science Park without having to change trains. In the evenings and weekends, the tram continues to Utrecht Central Center side and all the way to P+R Science Park during the week.

Discount campaigns like these are intended to get travelers back on public transport. Do these actions work, and how do we change traveler behaviour? come to the Public Transport Expo ’22 in Houten on 6 October and visit Esther Timmermans’ workshop on behavioral change in public transport.
