Due to the strike of Arriva employees, a third of the bus lines in Maastricht and the Heuvelland are currently not running. For the time being, there are few disruptions for train passengers.
That says a spokeswoman for Arriva. The train drivers and bus drivers will stop working for 24 hours on Thursday, because the employers have not responded to the ultimatum from the FNV.
Consult trip planner
It remains to be seen how many employees will participate in the strike. They must register as a striker. “If someone does not show up for the service, we immediately cancel that service or ride,” the Arriva spokeswoman said. “It is immediately updated in the travel planner. It is therefore recommended to consult the travel planner shortly before departure.”

Not much bigger
The spokeswoman does not expect the disruption to increase much during the day. “The first turnout is early in the morning. It still depends on the afternoon shifts. But you only know if someone is coming or not, when they register as a striker.”
Strike no chance
According to Fred Kagie, chairman of the Public Transport Employers’ Association, the strike has no chance. “The collective labor agreement that takes effect on 1 January 2023 has been concluded and has also been signed by the CNV. We will implement this collective agreement. Whether or not there is a strike, there is no reason to break open a concluded collective agreement.” The current collective labor agreement came into effect on 1 July 2021 and will last for a few more months. Kagie therefore questions the strike about a collective labor agreement that, according to him, is already being implemented.
The chairman of the employers’ association calls on the FNV to sit down. He has invited the unions to come and discuss the situation that will take effect from 1 January 2023.
