TivoliVredenburg employees tried to help the 41-year-old man who was stabbed to death on Sunday morning. The director of the Utrecht pop venue confirms this after reporting from it A.D.
Some employees of the Utrecht music center were “very close” when the 41-year-old man from Utrecht was stabbed around 7 a.m. The victim worked at the cleaning company with which TivoliVredenburg works, says director Jeroen Bartelse.
The music center employees present were finishing their shift from the night before. Bartelse cannot say how many people were in the building during the stabbing incident. “At such a large music venue there is a constant coming and going of people.”
Victim assistance has been arranged for the employees. There were no events in the building at the time of the stabbing. There were therefore no artists or audience present in the building.
‘First concern goes to employees’
The music center has canceled all Sunday productions. “Our first concern is for employees,” says director Bartelse. People with a ticket are actively being called and emailed about the cancellation.
On Sunday afternoon, there were several dozen visitors who had not received the message in time, Bartelse reports. They were informed and received in Café Het Gegeven Paard, in the central hall of the music venue. Visitors who come to TivoliVredenburg without success on Sunday evening will also be welcomed there. The pop venue will open again on Monday.
Police arrested a suspect in the fatal stabbing incident on Sunday morning. According to a police spokesperson, two people were involved in the stabbing. It is not yet known why the stabbing took place, and whether and how those involved knew each other.
