The large fire that broke out on Friday evening in Poeldijk in the Westland is under control, the fire brigade reports on

The fire broke out mid-Friday evening at a shed of a boat company in Poeldijk and then spread to a building materials store and a few adjacent business premises.

The fire was under control just after 2 a.m. on the night of Friday to Saturday. The extinguishing would take a few more hours, the fire brigade said. Demolition work was also carried out to completely extinguish the fire.

Large flames erupted from the roof of the warehouse, among other things, images showed. An NL Alert was sent because a lot of smoke was released from the fire, which also swept through The Hague. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

The police were present on Friday evening to keep people who came to see the fire at a distance. According to the police, the fire brigade was “attacked, pelted and hindered in their work”. That is why the mobile unit and dog handlers were also deployed.
