A 66-year-old Amsterdam resident was arrested last night around 1 a.m. after an 18-year-old Amsterdam resident was previously arrested on the Alkmaarse Lekstraat. This has probably prevented yet another attack on a home in Alkmaar.

The 66-year-old Amsterdam resident had dropped off the 18-year-old man in a car at Lekstraat. After officers came to investigate, the 18-year-old man threw a bag into the bushes. This turned out to contain, among other things, a cobra 6, heavy fireworks that are often used in attacks.

Because the area has been designated as a security risk area due to the seventeen attacks that have now been committed and there is extra camera surveillance, officers quickly noticed this ‘suspicious situation’.

Through the recently installed cameras, it was seen that the 18-year-old was hanging around a home that has previously been the subject of attacks.

Both the 18-year-old Amsterdam resident and the 66-year-old motorist have been arrested. Both are still in custody. This probably prevented another attack. A police spokesperson tells NH that the role of the 66-year-old man is not yet completely clear. “We are conducting further research into this.”
