Rune, only 19 years old, surprised earlier in Paris by knocking out Stefanos Tsitsipas, last year’s Greek finalist. This time, the young Dane caused a stir by sending his mother off the stands halfway through the third set, after he had suffered a breakout.

Rune made contact with his box almost throughout the quarterfinals, in which trainer and mother had taken place. But halfway through the third set, his mother suddenly left the stands after her son yelled several times in her direction to leave the court.
