MVV Maastricht and FC Dordrecht have responded to the reporting surrounding the Super League with a playful tweet. FC Barcelona chairman Joan Laporta claimed that Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord would be open to participating in the Super League, but according to the clubs, this is not true. MVV and Dordt stated that they have no interest in a top European competition.

“To avoid the rumors, we would like to emphasize that we are NOT participating in the Super League. Our focus is on tonight,” posted FC Dordrecht on X prior to the match against FC Groningen (1-0 win). MVV also couldn’t resist and posted a message about the coverage of the Super League.

Laporta claimed earlier on Friday that the Dutch top three would be ‘turned’ and would support the plans for a Super League. However, Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV have similar responses. Ajax told Ajax Life that it was ‘completely surprised’ by Laporta’s claim, while Feyenoord told Algemeen Dagblad journalist Mikos Gouka that it was ‘complete nonsense’. PSV club watcher Rik Elfrink dismisses the Barcelona chairman’s claims as ‘nonsense’ and states that the Eindhoven club has also ‘certainly not promised participation’.
