Dávid Hancko is having a great season at Feyenoord. The central defender now seems to have outgrown the Eredivisie and meets a sought-after profile on the current transfer market. In the ESPN DOC “Dávid Hancko: Think first, act second”the Slovak himself has been looking at possible options.

“David Beckham was my idol,” says Hancko, looking at an old photo. “I wore his shirt, but as a kid I was crazy about Liverpool.” An interesting detail is of course that Arne Slot – Hancko’s current trainer – appears to be making the switch to Merseyside.

It remains to be seen whether Hancko will pursue his trainer. Yet Hancko seems to be interested in a switch if Liverpool actually reports. “I extended my contract in February. Then I spoke to our general manager Dennis te Kloese. He said ‘We want to keep you here as long as possible. But if the right thing comes along and it is one of the biggest clubs, or something what you really want, then I will take you to the airport.’ That is how we discussed it. But it is not happening now. There is no pressure on my player’s agent or on the club.”

The full documentary ‘Dávid Hancko: Think first, act second’ can be seen on ESPN 1 on Sunday from 9:15 PM.
