On Saturday, Le Havre ensured that Paris Saint-Germain had to postpone winning its twelfth national title. The Parisians would be champions if they defeated the number fifteen of Ligue 1, but could not get further than 3-3 on their own field against the PhD candidate.

PSG started without top scorer Kylian Mbappé. Le Havre only had the ball sparingly, but took the lead in the nineteenth minute. Christopher Operi scored with a slider into the far corner behind Keylor Navas.

Ten minutes later the score was level again. Bradley Barcola tapped the ball into the goal after a cross from Warren Zaire-Emery. From a sparing counter, André Ayew gave Le Havre the lead again in the 38th minute. After an hour it was even 1-3. Abdoulaye Touré scored from the penalty spot after Danilo Pereira had fouled Loïc Nego.

Achraf Hakimi made it 2-3 in the 78th minute, and in extra time Gonçalo Ramos headed in the equalizer: 3-3. He thus only prevented the second defeat of the season.

PSG-trainer Luis Enrique laat zich horen.

Tenth title in twelve years beckons

If AS Monaco does not win at Olympique Lyon on Sunday, PSG will still win the title with three matches to go. That is the third championship in a row and the tenth in twelve years. Monaco (2017) and Lille OSC (2021) managed to break PSG’s hegemony.

Paris Saint-Germain will take on Dortmund in the first match of the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday. The Germans are playing at home.

The wealthy PSG has been aiming for success in the most important European club competition for years, but has never won the final victory. In 2020, PSG reached the final, losing 1-0 to Bayern Munich.
