Six boats of the Dutch rowing team have secured a place in the final at the World Championships in the Czech Racice on Thursday: Martine Veldhuis in the light scull, the women two-without, the women four-without, the men four-without, the women’s double four and the men double.

Veldhuis finished second in her semifinal of the light scull in 7.44.86. Only the Romanian Ionela Cozmiuc was faster (7.42.07). Ymkje Clevering and Veronique Meester also finished second in their semifinals. They did that in the second without with a time of 7.12.75. This put them close behind the Romanian women (7.11.04).

Men’s and women’s four-no win

The men’s four-without won the semifinals. Rik Rienks, Sander de Graaf, Ruben Knab and Ralf Rienks rowed to the win in 6.02.96. The women in the four-without were also the first to cross the finish line in the semi-finals. Tinka Offereins, Hermijntje Drenth, Benthe Boonstra, Marloes Oldenburg clocked 6.44.10.

The other semifinals are scheduled for Friday morning. The first finals will be rowed on Friday afternoon. Sunday is the final day of the World Rowing Championships.
