Mo Ihattaren arrested and transported to police station

--

It is the umpteenth time in a short time that ‘Mo’ Ihattaren has been discredited. This time because of an arrest, De Telegraaf writes. The reason that the Dutch-Moroccan football talent was arrested in Utrecht on Tuesday afternoon is a serious threat. It is not said who would have threatened Ihattaren.

In any case, the police are not releasing much, according to the Telegraaf. Only that it concerns a 20-year-old person who has been arrested for threats. However, the newspaper reports that “sources close to the investigation confirm” that it concerns the footballer. The police are currently investigating the report of the alleged victim. It is not yet known whether Ihattaren will remain behind bars during the investigation.

Fidgety

The arrest comes in a series of incidents surrounding Ihattaren. For example, his Porsche burned out a while ago. The police suspect that the car was deliberately set on fire. Ihattaren’s older brother’s car has also ‘caught on fire’ once.

Last August it was announced that Ihattaren was not training in a group at Ajax, which hired him from Juventus. The reason for this would be a threat from criminal circles. The alleged threats would have started after the footballer got into a relationship “with a young woman from the area where he lives”, according to the statement the Telegraph at the time.

Criminal ties

Crime reporter John van den Heuvel also released some stories about Ihattaren and his link to underworld figures, whom he would lend his car and visit in prison. It would even concern suspects from the Marengo trial, in which suspected members of the Mocro Mafia are held responsible for several murders and attempted murders.

Due to all the vicissitudes surrounding the footballer, Ajax has now decided not to take over him permanently from Juventus. Still, Ihattaren wanted to make one more serious attempt to pull his career out of the doldrums, or so he led to believe. “I didn’t realize that the line with crime is very thin,” he said in an interview about all the turmoil.

Wesley Sneijder even took him under his wing and tried to motivate him. Without success. Due to a lack of motivation on Ihattaren’s part, Sneijder quickly withdrew his hands. At the moment he would receive guidance from the family of Abdelhak Nouri, the former Ajax talent who suffered permanent brain damage after cardiac arrhythmia.

Whether Mohamed Ihattaren will ever shine on the field again? Let’s hope so. The 20-year-old football player and former PSV player is bursting with talent, but seems to have completely different things on his mind in recent years.
