Primary school De Notenkraker in Amsterdam-South is closing its doors today due to a threat. A threat came in via the social media platform Snapchat last night.

The school informed parents of the threat this morning and says it is investigating whether it is a real threat. About 650 students are educated at the school.

School group Public Education on the Amstel, of which De Notenkraker is a part, does not want to make any further statements about the threat.

De Nautilus primary school is located in the same building as De Notenkraker. No lessons can be given there either, parents were told this morning. They were asked to pick up the children again.

Threat on Spinoza20first

The same thing happened yesterday at a secondary school in East Amsterdam. Spinoza20first on HJE Wenckebachweg then also closed its doors due to a threat via Snapchat.

“Spinoza shooting tomorrow?? Watch out for people on spinoza20first!! Between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM,” read a message on Snapchat that circulated Tuesday night.

Later that day, police arrested a minor for threatening the high school.
