Arsenal have further fueled their hopes of becoming English champions for the first time in twenty years. Mikel Arteta’s side cleared an important hurdle by winning the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur. On the field of the arch-rival, after an exciting final phase, the score was 2-3.
With three games to go, Arsenal has 80 points. However, Manchester City is slightly better than the leader in terms of losing points. The champion of the past three seasons has 76 points, but played two games fewer. At 5:30 PM, coach Pep Guardiola’s team will take on Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal had only 29 percent possession in the first half, but still led 0-3 halfway through. Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg unintentionally helped the opponent by heading the ball into his own goal. Afterwards, Dutch international Micky van de Ven thought he would equalize in the 22nd minute, but the video referee saw that he was offside.
Champion of the corners
Instead, Arsenal made it 0-2 five minutes later thanks to a precise slide from Bukayo Saka. Kai Havertz’s 0-3 again came from a corner. No other team from the five European top competitions has scored more times from a standard situation this season than coach Mikel Arteta’s team (fourteen times).
After a blunder by goalkeeper David Raya, Argentinian Cristian Romero made it 1-3 in the 64th minute. The final phase became even more exciting after Son Heung-min’s tying goal in the 87th minute from a penalty, which was given on the advice of the video referee. The final offensive did not yield any more points for Tottenham.
Kluivert and Senesi score
At the same time as Tottenham – Arsenal, AFC Bournemouth made mincemeat of Brighton & Hove Albion, thanks to many former Premier League players. Marcos Senesi (ex-Feyenoord), Enes Ünal (ex-NAC and ex-FC Twente) and Justin Kluivert (ex-Ajax) all scored at the Vitality Stadium to give the home team a big 3-0 win over Bart’s Brighton Verbruggen, Jan-Paul van Hecke and Joël Veltman. Only Verbruggen played minutes and therefore scored three goals.

0-3 GOAL by Kai Havertz!
The North London derby appears to have been decided before half-time! Kai Havertz heads home from a corner Declan Rice. It could be a very important victory in the blood-curdling title battle with Manchester City. Liverpool has probably dropped out after yesterday’s 2-2 against West Ham United.
