Mildura nurse and small business owner Janita Weybury is scrambling to find replacement tickets after her Bonza flight to the Gold Coast, booked on January 11, was canceled along with all other flights by the budget carrier.
Initially booked for $767, the flight was canceled two weeks ago, with the group charged an extra $315 to rebook a new Bonza flight at a higher cost.
Now, with the flight canceled again as part of Bonza’s nationwide cancellations, Ms Weybury faces exorbitant prices for flights with other carriers, upwards of $6000 for her group.
She spent $2300 on Gold Coast accommodation and was told she won’t get a refund.
“Even if they [Bonza] were to resume operations I wouldn’t really have any confidence booking with them again,” she said.
“[If Bonza does cease operations] it will make it really-hard for families trying to get away because it’s quite expensive flying with other airlines and you have stop overs at Melbourne and Sydney.
“It will make travel quite hard… It’s disappointing looking forward to a holiday and having all this stress 36 hours from when you’re meant to be flying out.”
