Ajax has strengthened itself with Enes Isik. The defender comes from Excelsior Under 15 and will join Ajax Under 16 next season.
The defender of the Rotterdam team has not been in amateur football for very long. Before his time at Excelsior, he played in the youth team of DHC in Delft. “I developed well there and then Excelsior and Sparta wanted me. I had already done several internships with those teams and eventually Sparta asked me for another internship and Excelsior to actually come and play football there. Then I opted for certainty and went to Excelsior.”
The Kralingers are currently having an excellent season. In last year’s third division they missed out on the championship on goal difference, but promotion to the second division was secured. The Rotterdam team became convincing champions. This leads to satisfaction for Isik. “I developed really well last season. I didn’t expect to get better so quickly, but of course I’m very happy with it.”
The fact that Ajax signed up for Isik was a surprise for the defender. “I developed well last season and Ajax noticed that. At some point I heard that they were interested and of course I really liked that. Playing for Ajax has always been a dream of mine. I didn’t expect to be playing there so soon.”
