DEN BOSCH | Today – Friday 23 September – the premiere of KICK/PUSH, the documentary that colorfully explains the turbulent development of the skateboard scene in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, will take place in the Verkadefabriek in Den Bosch. Afterwards, the party starts in Brouwerscafé Bossche Brouwers aan de Vaart.

The afterparty is completed with the programming of two appropriate punk bands. The Shivvies from Rotterdam play an infectious set that will remind connoisseurs of the Ramones, elaborating on the 1-2-3-4 tradition that gave the Maasstad the title Punk Rock City around the turn of the millennium.

The Unsinkable from Nijmegen consists of (former) members of Facing Down, The Minority, Note to Amy, The Assange and punk rock karaoke band Sing Along Riot. The Unsinkable won the PocketPop band competition in 2018 and is reminiscent of Bad Religion, New Found Gloy, No Use For A Name and The Ataris. After the bands, a DJ plays records that fit an old-fashioned skateboard party.

Premiere in the Verkade factory

The premiere of KICK/PUSH in the Verkadefabriek is preceded by the very young Bossche band No Way and a short Q&A with the makers of the film. After the performance, there is a short tour through the adjacent indoor skate park World Skate Center, which ends at De Vaart on the Bossche Tramkade where the afterparty starts.

The documentary KICK/PUSH revolves around the rise of the skateboarding scene and the struggle for a place of its own. It deals in a colourful, artistic way with the Bossche skating ban of the 1990s, the growth spurts of the scene and the rise of the city’s various indoor skate parks. The do-it-yourself mentality and determination of the skateboarders plays a decisive factor in this. Filmed for this in ‘s-Hertogenbosch and on Madeira.

The film KICK/PUSH is an initiative of Pascal Vugts and Casper Herselman. The production is done by Eendracht Films. Steffie Storms (Becky Bulldozer, among others) directs. The documentary KICK/PUSH will premiere on Friday 23 September 2022 in the Verkadefabriek in Den Bosch. Tickets for the afterparty are still available at The premiere itself is stiffly sold out; possible additional performance dates will follow soon. Keep an eye on the website for more information.
