Tomorrow one of the most important motorcycle fairs in the world will open its doors for the INTERMOT 2023, after the fair in Cologne was unable to take place due to corona in recent years. The fair will run from October 4-9, 2022. Intermot is a biennial fair, unlike the annual EICMA in Milan, which traditionally follows in November. In 2018, 220,400 visitors came to Cologne. It remains to be seen how big the motorcycle show will be, because this is the first edition after the corona pandemic made such events possible. Over the past three years, the exhibitors have found alternative methods of presenting their products, in some cases also opposing ‘static’ shows where motors are on the stand. The official program for the press day therefore only features one international presentation from Kawasaki, all other press events are organized by the German importer of the respective brands.

The most notable absentee is BMW Motorrad, where the Intermot in the Koelnmesse was always seen as a ‘home race’. The German motorcycle manufacturer quickly dropped out during corona, after which they immediately banned all major fairs. Incidentally, this does not alter the fact that it is expected that the absent motorcycle brands will also present news tomorrow, although that will not be from the exhibition floor itself.
