When we passionately sing along to an anthem, we always think of the Italian football players who sing the Fratelli d’Italia for an international match. The cliché is then that you are already 2-0 ahead after this boost.

For 20-year-old French Taky Marie Divine Kouamé, that boost was no longer necessary, because she had already won the 500 meter time trial at the World Track Cycling World Championships – the Dutch Hetty van der Wouw came very close to fourth.

Kouamé celebrated that victory with the usual scenes of joy (cheering, French flag on shoulders), but also during the ceremony she was still fully in joy mode. In front of the home crowd on the track in Saint Quentin, she sang her lungs out while singing the French national anthem. And there is quite a bit of volume in the lungs of a cyclist. Splendid!

The World Track Cycling World Championships will enter its last day today. Among other things, the final of the sprint tournament with Harry Lavreysen is still on the program. Yoeri Havik and Jan Willem van Schip will also be in action during the coupling race. In addition, there is the keirin for women with Olympic champion Shanne Braspennincx and Steffie van der Peet.
