Post Office inquiry live updates: Angela van den Bogerd ‘does not recall’ being told IT firm could access accounts

Angela van den Bogerd, who was a senior director in the Post Office working with sub-postmasters, begins her evidence to the public inquiry with an apology
“I am truly sorry for the devastation caused to you, your family and friends,” she says to wrongly-convicted sub-postmasters
Van den Bogerd worked for the Post Office from 1985 – 2020, and personally handled many sub-postmasters’ complaints about the Horizon IT system
Between 1999 and 2015, more than 900 sub-postmasters were prosecuted because issues with Horizon made it look like money was missing from branches
On Wednesday, the inquiry heard the management committee wanted to pause all prosecutions in 2013, but ex-chief executive Paula Vennells wanted some to continue
