A 16-year-old boy was killed in a stabbing in the French department of Drôme, in the southeast of the country, on the night of Saturday to Sunday. The teenager was attending a village festival when a gang suddenly burst in and started attacking the partygoers. Several people were also injured in the incident. Two of them, both in their twenties, are in critical condition.
The drama took place in Crépol, a municipality with 532 inhabitants. About 400 people gathered for the annual winter ball in the village on Saturday evening. But around 2 a.m., panic ensued. About ten people stormed the banquet hall and started attacking those present with knives.
During the incident, 16-year-old Thomas, a young rugby player, was stabbed. The teenager died of his injuries while on his way by ambulance to Lyon hospital. The rugby team of which young Thomas was a member reacts in defeat. “What can we say about the barbarity and tragedy that has struck us?” read a post on Facebook.

Several people were also injured in the knife attack. Most of them suffered bruises, but two men aged 23 and 28 were seriously injured and are in danger of dying. According to the fire brigade, there are a total of seventeen victims.
Settlement
According to the prosecutor’s office, the attackers came to the ball with premeditation. The perpetrators may have wanted to settle accounts with one of the partygoers, it sounds. An investigation has now been opened into “murder and attempted murder in an organized gang”. Police have not arrested anyone at this time.
The residents of Crépol are deeply impressed by the tragedy. “At first I thought it was a terrorist attack,” said one of those present. Martine Lagut, the mayor of the municipality, is also in shock. “That gang has come to kill people. Not to enjoy themselves, but to hurt others. It’s terrible,” she responds.
