A Flemish couple has been reported missing on the Spanish island of Tenerife. The car of Marc Olbrechts (71) and Laura Trappeniers (66) has also disappeared. According to HLN, this is evident from the investigation report. Friends and relatives are very concerned.
According to Spain’s National Center for Missing Persons (CNDES), Olbrechts and Trappeniers have been missing since Wednesday, April 24, but friends and family of the couple claim they were last seen on Monday, April 22, in their hometown of Callao Salvaje. Trappeniers responded to an online advertisement around 4:37 p.m. and later that day she went to a yoga class with her husband.
Towards evening some strange things happened. This is how the alarm went off in the couple’s home. The man who maintained the swimming pool at Olbrechts and Trappeniers later also noticed that there was a light on in the house and that the back door was unlocked. Trappeniers’ keys and mobile phone were also in the house, and no shelter had been arranged for the cat. “No, they did not leave voluntarily,” a friend of the couple deduces.
The couple’s car, a dark blue Opel Mokka with a Spanish license plate, has disappeared.
Olbrechts and Trappeniers are said to come from Flemish Brabant, but have been living on the Spanish island for fifteen years. The Foreign Affairs is aware of the disturbing disappearance. “The FPS Foreign Affairs in Brussels and the Belgian consulate in Tenerife are following this case closely and are in contact with the other competent Spanish and Belgian authorities,” a spokesperson said.
