Thieves steal 230 kilos of cheese from parked truck in Germany | NOW

Thieves have stolen a total of 230 kilos of cheese from a parked truck in the German state of Saarland. According to the police, it is not clear how the perpetrators took the large amount of cheese undetected.

The crime took place between Saturday evening and Monday morning. The truck was parked in Nohfelden, in a parking lot along the highway towards Kaiserslautern.

In Germany, heavy trucks are not allowed to drive on Sundays, which is a reason for drivers to temporarily interrupt their journey on Saturday for a forced break along the road.

According to the police, the unknown perpetrators took fifteen bulk packages of Edam cheese. The police could not say how much the cheese is worth.

Large quantities of cheese are also regularly stolen in the Netherlands. In March, about 1,600 kilos of cheese was stolen from a dairy farm in Fijnaart in North Brabant.
