Schiphol expects another busy weekend due to the May holidays. Holidaymakers are now also returning, which can make it busier at passport controls. “We expect it to be busy, but manageable.”
The airport expects to transport 70,000 travelers every day during the May holidays, with a possible peak of 80,000. Travelers who return and have to show their passports may find themselves in longer lines, a spokesperson said.
Schiphol previously said that it expected this May holiday to be 10 percent busier than last year. Staff shortages in security, among other things, led to long queues during holiday periods two years ago.
Financial CEO Robert Carsouw said in February that the airport had hired many security guards to prevent chaos like in the summer of 2022.
