John de Bever has made a painful statement about Rachel Hazes. While his fans recently commented on his friendship with Rachel, the singer now says that there is no friendship at all. “She’s not a friend.”
John de Bever recently received harsh criticism from fans for the first time. John and his husband Kees Stevens were extremely proud when Rachel Hazes presented them with a limited gold André Hazes banknote. The men proudly shared the photo, which was taken in their living room, on Instagram. Fans reacted furiously. They did not understand why John and Kees interact with Rachel.
Criticism
“You will lose fans if you keep hanging out with that strange woman, because no one likes her,” said one of the comments under the photo. And another wrote: “What a shame. Fan of you, but I don’t need to see this narcissist on screen.”
Rachel not a friend
In conversation with the weekly magazine Weekend, John now tells who his best friends are. “Kees and then Johan Derksen. I still go to him every week. I speak to him every day,” says John.
But what about his and Rachel’s friendship? “I’ve seen that twice in my life. At Holland Zingt Hazes, where she invited me,” John answers. “And she came to my house, which I did not know in advance, to present André Hazes’ gold banknote. But then you’re not a friend yet, are you? No, friends are of course something else, you have already built up and experienced a lot with them.”
